  1. You can do it! (in my best Waterboy voice)

  2. Run Forrest!

  3. I’ll employ a really fit bird to run just in frount of you with a pint of the black stuff and a mangers… that’d get you round :)

  4. Just imagine there’s a keg of Magners at the finishing line Ed! YOU CAN DO IT….BOTH OF YOU!!!!

  5. well I think you are either incredibly brave the pair of yu or just mad!!
Go for it I think it it is a tremendous idea - wish I could do it - not!!

  6. Go lads, keep up the good work were all well proud of you… sponsorship will follow once pay day comes or I’ll sponsor a shed load if Ed helps me out with a web site deal :)

    Keep on running!

  7. Two things Dougan, sponsor has no c’s :-) And secondly I will do my best with a deal for you…

  8. good luck with half marathon tomorrow boys
sometimes the old cures are the best ed (vinigar comment)

  9. Ha ok Ed good point and yes i cant spell, however good work with the 1/2 marathon neither of you looked in bad shape at the end of it :)

Good work guys, just think another couple of weeks training and you’ll never have to run again ;)

  10. Oh another one thats a ol’ hillwalkers favoret soak your feet in meths… or drink it, i can never remember it either fixes your feet or your so drunk you dont care but if your going to drink it do it before you soak your feet and strain it through a loaf of white bread as it gets rid of the taste!

  11. Dougan, it worries me that you know this much about drinking meths….!!!

  12. Best of luck to you! What a great story about overcoming and perservering! Think of the race as a long rockclimb…one pitch at a time! Feel for ya about the knees, have you tried ice massage: freeze water in a styrofoam cup, peel away the edges as the ice melts, great for after training session (cools inflamed area and promotes blood flow) Of course, Dougan’s remedy sounds more interesting!

  13. Want to wish you both the very best of luck. Saw you were running for the Meningitis Research Foundation when I had a look on the Just Giving sight.
Utmost admiration for you both…..I am a chunky mum just starting training for the Bristol Half Marathon for the same charity this year, because of my daughter Lydia’s battle with Pneaumococcal Meningitis. You have given me the inspiration to work hard even though I’m only going half the distance. The very best of luck…from a stranger…with something in common. May the weather be cool, the wind be behind you and the hills seem flat. Good on you both.

  14. You are both doing really well. Just wanted to wish you ‘Good Luck’ with the big 20 this weekend lads. Hope it goes really well for you both and the weather is good.
Will be eagerly logging in here to see the progress report!

  15. Come on Ed, you can do it! Love Ed.

  16. Ok, was the last message from Ed senior or just Ed loving himself???

  17. Ed

  18. Good luck for tomorrow Daddy and Uncle Chris - I know you can both do it!

(p.s. I’m very advanced to be typing this at two and a half years old!)

  19. All the best for tomorrow guys, I thought I’d best post this now since I’ll be slightly hungover in the morning after Laura’s 18th tonight, and won’t be in any fit state to send any messages… ;-)

  20. All the best for tomorrow boys, I’m sure you’ll both manage to go the distance just don’t get too carried away at the start, its easy done - take your time, run at a slower pace than planned for the first few miles, to keep something in the tank for later in the race. Keep warm/dry at the start if its raining with an old cagoule you can throw away later or even just a black bag with holes for your head and arms - very cool!
Take on water at every opportunity, even if you don’t really think you need it, that’s very important, and try if you can and enjoy the day, the scenery, the banter with the other runners and all the spectators will help you along the way, and take your mind of just how far it is. Don’t worry about how long it takes you, that doesn’t really matter - just aim to get over that finish line.
We (the family) will be there at Musselburgh and hopefully elsewhere on the route to cheer you on, so watch out for Jack’s Tigger/Winnie the Poo Ballon, and you’ll know thats where we are.

Take care, good luck, see you both at the finish.
    Love
    Liz/Mum

  21. Just heard and want to say BLOODY WELL DONE!!!!
So glad all the training and perseverence paid off.
You should both be VERY proud of yourselves not only for completeing the race but for all the much needed money you raised.

P.S. Thanks for keeping me amused with the very humorous blog over the last few months ;-)

  22. Just wanted to say a huge WELL DONE to Chris and Ed for completing the marathon yesterday. It’s an amazing achievement and I for one, am so incredibly proud of you both for all your efforts over the last few months. I must admit, I had a lump in my throat when you both came running past us at the finish line!!

So - what’s next? Rose and I think the New York marathon would be a good idea (as it means we can can go shopping while you do the running!!!)

  23. I’m liking your idea Suz………….

Proud of you both boys - well done!

  24. Guys, what can I say, you rock! What you did yesterday is fantastic, such a great achievement. WELL DONE…YOU DID IT!!

  25. Like Suz & Rose said boys I too am extremely proud of you both, a fantastic achievement. I know just how much effort you put into all the training and how hard it was on the day but I knew you could do it!
Rose & Suz don’t build up your hopes for the NY Marathon I doubt whether either of them will ever want do another one!
    Perhaps you could!!
    Love
    Mum/Liz

  26. Hmmm - not so sure about that one!!! Although there is talk of doing the Edinburgh Moonwalk (www.walkthewalk.org)next year, if anyone’s interested?? Still a marathon, but instead of running, walking - and during the night instead of during the day! Let me know if you’re up for it!!

  27. Is this the one where you walk 26 miles in the dark wearing a bra in Edinburgh. I never think that sounds safe!

  28. Well done chrissy boii a bit late
